2003 John Block - JGA Scholarship Winners Announced JGA SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS: Once again the candidates for the John Block Junior Golf Association Scholarship were an outstanding group. It is harder and harder to single out the winners because all the applicants are so deserving. The selection committee gets down to splitting hairs, which is frustrating and painful. The practice is to award two $1,500 scholarships. Out of all the applicants we had this year, there were six we could just not separate without getting ridiculous. The answer to our dilemma was to waffle and award all six a $1,000 scholarship to the school of their choice. The winners this year were: Nathaniel Golomb, Schoolcraft High School, headed for Hope College; James Lettow, Kalamazoo Central, headed for Grand Valley State; Jeremy Sikkema, Loy Norrix, headed for University of Michigan or Western Michigan; Joseph Byrne, Hackett Catholic Central, headed for the University of Michigan; Lauren Eckert, Portage Northern, University of Michigan, and Derek Rider, Portage Northern, Western Michigan.
