A NOTE FROM STEVE TYLER

The unpredictability of Michigan spring weather has graced us once again this year.  We have had warm temperatures, many windy days, a couple strong storms, and lets try to forget the 14 inches of snow on the first day of spring!  However, for many of you, not even the coldest or windiest days keep us away from the game we love.

I would like to thank everyone for their patience while I get to know all of the new faces in my new job.  My mission has been to keep our facilities well maintained at a fair price for everyone in this great community to enjoy.  Several recent improvements have been made:

  • Two bunkers have been filled in:  the bunker behind the green on the 1st hole at Eastern Hills and the bunker 40 yards from the green on the 18th hole at Milham

  • Removal of trees has taken place at Eastern.  In total 5 trees have been removed

  • The storm that came through on Sunday, June 8th knocked down a number of large limbs at Red Arrow.  Clean up has gone very well and I would like to thank Wayne for all of his great work at Red Arrow

  • If you have not been down to Red Arrow give it a try.  A course that was overcrowded with dandelions in recent years has been transformed into a pleasant oasis for golf

  • Moreover, improvements will continue to take place the rest of the season

If there is one question I get everyday, 10 times a day….  "How’s the liquor license coming at Eastern Steve?"  My best response is that we will have it in 2008, I do hope so!  We're getting close with all of our paperwork and a plan has been put together by myself and the city to enhance Eastern's clubhouse by the spring of 2009 into a wonderful drinking establishment which will include a full service bar and outdoor porch.  Soon, the model will be on display for the membership to observe.  This business plan for the future will allow us to pay debt, increase revenues, and pay for new improvements.  I do believe it will be a hot bed for both league play and outings in the future.
