NEW GOLF CAR FLEET AT MILHAM
AND EASTERN
Milham Park and Eastern Hills are getting new golf cars
for 2007. The Precedent from
Club Car is the Ultimate Golf Car. Featuring more
comfortable seats, better storage area, more power,
better turning radius, better braking and a built-in
club cover, we think you'll have a much more enjoyable
round of golf in our new carts.

CHANGES TO MILHAM PARK
The Milham Park grounds crew
completed a number of projects last fall -- most
notably hole #4. The sub-surface of the fourth green
has been extremely wet the past couple of years. It is
an area with a lot of underground springs and all the
water from the surrounding area flows through that hole.
Ron Williams, our course
Superintendent, attacked the problem by installing a
large drainage system that captures the ground water
before it hits the green and routes it around the green
and to the river. That of you who played fall golf can
substantiate that is was quite a large undertaking.
Since the area was
completely torn up, it was decided to put some bunkers
in around the back and to the right side of green to
enhance the hole. (see pictures)
Other projects include new
blue tees on holes #2 & #3. Also, the 11th
tee was lengthened, the cart path moved, and many trees
trimmed. (see pictures)
We hope you enjoy the changes.

STATUS ON EASTERN HILLS
No definitive direction has been
taken on the sale of Eastern Hills. A report will be
given by the City Manager to the Commission this Monday,
March 5th. Regardless of any action taken
by the Commission this Monday, the KMGA will operate
Eastern Hills for the entire 2007 season.
With the assistance of Lee
Kirk, Kalamazoo City attorney, and Frances Jewell, its
Director of Parks and Recreation, we have continued to
pursue a liquor license for both Eastern and Milham
Park. No decision has been made on our request so it
does not appear likely we will have the license this
year. That will not stop the process and look to the
2008 season for us to be able provide our customers with
some alternative beverages.
