UPCOMING EVENTS:  Our courses are busy with tournaments, demo days and rules seminars this spring.  The next event on the schedule is the 3-person, 27 hole scramble this Saturday at Eastern Hills.  This is a new event on the schedule and should be a fun one.  Winners will be paid for Low net and Low gross on each 9, as well as overall winners.

Next on the schedule is Sunday Skins at Milham.  This event is a fun twist on regular skins in that you have many more chances to win something.  There will be skins for low gross hole, low net hole, closest to the pins, long drive and low putts.  Cost is only $10 and tee times begin at 1:00.

Monday, April 26th, Milham Park will host a Rules of Golf Seminar with John Allen.  This FREE event should be very informative considering all of the rules changes for 2004.  All attendees will receive a 2004 rulebook.  Call your reservation in now, as space is limited.

May 1st and 2nd also debuts a new event to the tournament schedule – The Big Hole / Tough Hole Scramble.  Eastern Hills on Saturday will be a 2-person scramble with a hole approximately 8” – 10” in diameter.  The tournament will then be flighted for Sunday’s second round – a tough hole (the toughest pin placement we can find) scramble at Milham Park.  Entries are available at both courses as well as online at www.kalamazoogolf.org.

Thursday, April 29th Milham Park will begin our regular demo days at the driving range.  We will be on the range with all of our fitting irons and some woods to help you find the right equipment.  Wednesday, May 12th, Ecco Shoes is sponsoring a demo day.  This will be a great chance to learn about these quality shoes and find your proper size.  Thursday, May 13th, we will have many sales representatives on site to answer all your questions.  Currently scheduled are Cobra, Titleist, Callaway, Taylor Made, Mizuno, Sonartech, Nike, MacGregor and more.  May 20th is a Ping fitting day, which requires a reservation.  Wednesday, May 26th, the Nike Mojo Van will be onsite to demonstrate their new golf ball.

As you can see, the schedule is bursting with activity.  We will try to keep you updated and appreciate your feedback on all the new events.

LINK UP 2 GOLF:  If you didn’t hear of Link Up 2 Golf or playgolfamerica.com last season, there’s a good chance you will hear of it soon.  National advertisements by the PGA of America will start this weekend.  Link Up 2 Golf is a program designed to introduce more people to the game of golf.  It is designed to be a fun, easy way to learn the basics of golf in a relaxed atmosphere with approximately a 6-1 student to PGA professional instructor ratio.  If you know of anyone who would like to learn how to play golf, send them to the www.playgolfamerica.com website, check Link Up 2 Golf, enter your ZIP code and click “Search”.  You’ll see that Milham Park, Eastern Hills, Grand Prairie and other local courses all have instructional clinics posted that you can sign up for.

GOLF SHOES:  Have you seen the selection of shoes at Milham Park lately?  We have over 1500 pair in stock and this is by far the best selection we’ve ever had, especially in women’s shoes.  Our Nike shipment just arrived with many new styles for 2004.  Etonic is revamped with new management and new shoes that will definitely bring them back to the level they were 5 years ago.  Ecco Shoes offer great quality, while Callaway increases their market share with comfort.  Of course, Foot-Joy is the standard, but Adidas has a comparable shoe at a lower price.  With all the choices at Milham Park, you just might have to buy two pair!

SHORT GAME CLINICS:  Everyone needs help with their short game.  That’s why we are offering short game clinics at the short-game practice area at Milham Park.  Topics are:  Friday, May 7th – putting; Friday, May 14th – chipping; Friday, May 21st – bunker play.  Each clinic runs from 6:00pm – 7:00pm and costs $10.00.  Sign up for 1 or sign up for all 3 to start lowering your score!
