KMGA Newsletter – June 14, 2002

TOURNAMENTS:

We have three special tournaments scheduled that you may take advantage of during the month of June.  Our events have always been well supported and we hope you continue to enjoy them.

The Bob Millar Best Ball-Scramble will be held Saturday & Sunday, June 1st and 2nd.  Saturday’s round will be at Eastern Hills with the Scramble portion being played at Milham Park on Sunday.  Entries are available online at www.kalamazoogolf.org or at the golf shops at Milham and Eastern Hills.  Deadline for entry is Thursday, May 30th.

By popular demand we will be increasing the field size for our second annual KMGA member match play tourney.  As you may recall, we flight all the entries by handicap and set up brackets to begin single elimination match play at Milham Park.  This year we plan on having a championship flight where all matches are played at scratch, and having between 2 and 4 flights of 16 and a women’s flight playing with handicap.  You schedule your own match and the tournament proceeds over the summer months.  Sign up at either pro shop or print an entry form online at the Website.

The third event of the month is the Kalamazoo Country Amateur.  This is a 36-hole medal play event flighted by your U.S.G.A. handicap.  The first round will be held at Eastern Hills and the final round at Milham Park.  The dates for this event are June 23 & 24th.

FATHER’S DAY SALE:

Want that perfect gift for Father’s Day this year?  Send us an e-mail of that sand wedge or putter that you have been looking at in the golf shop.  We will keep the e-mail on file and just tell your wife or kids that Milham Park knows exactly what you want for Dad’s day.  If your in the golf shop fill out one of the note cards available for this Father’s Day promotion and when your loved one comes in, we will show them exactly what you want.  Good idea, huh!

PERSONAL THOUGHTS:

How about this spring?  I’m sure the summer will be great because we have really paid the price with rain and cold weather during April & May.  Let’s all get together for a Karma change on the weather.

Check out Red Arrow if you haven’t been down the King Highway location in a while.  The course is in really good shape and it is a great spot to work on your short game.  A couple of times around “The Arrow” and you’ll see a noticeable difference in your play from 100 yards in.

What other facilities in Michigan can you get seven qualified golf professionals ready to help you with your golf game?  Dean Marks, Jeff Rohrstaff, Mark Bouw, Mike Hill, Chad Gaston, Bill Yates, and yours truly would love to spend some time with any of you to assist you in hitting better golf shots.  Give one of them a call.

Do you have any suggestions on how we can do our jobs better?  If you have any concerns at all drop us e-mail and offer your ideas.  As more courses continue to be built in this area we realize we need to be the best we can be.  Maybe with your help, we can get there.

Thanks for listening…Talk with you again next month.
