2004 John Block - JGA Scholarship Winners Announced

JGA SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS:
-John Block, Kalamazoo Gazette

A pair of scholar-athletes from Portage Central have been awarded the 2004 John Block Junior Golf Association scholarships.

Winners of the $1,500 stipends this year are Patricia Monroe and Timothy Fries.

Monroe, a standout golfer for the Mustangs as well as a regular participant in JGA events, had a cumulative grade-point average of 4.034.  She is planning to attend East Carolina University.

Fries, who plans to attend the University of Michigan, was a three-year letterwinner in golf and was co-captain his senior year.  He carried a 4.190 GPA and was named to the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association Academic All-State team last season.

The JGA scholarships are awarded each year to deserving area seniors who have been participants in the Junior Golf Association program.
